LANDLINE presented by XOSECRET & Halifax Fringe
Halifax to Victoria: May 17th-19th
Presented in partnership with the Intrepid Theatre. Extremely limited capacity, advance purchase is recommended.
LANDLINE is a new kind of theatre. A performance that takes place in two places at once, LANDLINE is a curious exposure to the feeling of being alone, together. You will become both the audience and the performer as you converse in real time via text message with a fellow participant in Victoria, British Columbia, and go on an audio-guided, experimental walking tour. You are prompted to share stories, memories, and secrets as the urban landscape transforms into a back drop for the relationship forming between two strangers.
LANDLINE offers participants a curious exposure to the feeling of being alone together.
No latecomers admitted. Please charge your phone and make sure you are on time (the audience member in Victoria will be waiting for you).
Extremely Limited Space (only two people per performance)! Advance booking recommended. Multiple performances every day beginning at the noted times. This show involves walking outdoors for 45 minutes and being comfortable using a cell phone (provided if you don’t have one). The company will email you instructions prior to the show.
About the Company:
XOSECRET’s (Secret Theatre, Halifax) previous work has grown to encompass a myriad of people and places come, gone and soon to be. Through the exploration of site and exploitation of media art, we create meaningful moments that offer new ways of being together while shedding crooked light on how it is we’ve grown apart. Over the years, we’ve invited people to slow dance with strangers in disused storefronts, to drift through public spaces with an audio guide, to confess secrets to someone thousands of kilometres away through text message, and to immerse themselves in choreographies on busy city street corners from Aarhus, Denmark to Whitehorse, Yukon Territory.
ACCESSIBILITY: Unfortunately the Secret Location can not be accessed by wheelchair, but we can definitely accommodate folks. The piece takes place while you explore an area of the city and we can definitely meet and check you in on the sidewalk.
